How we use AI
Every story on Spellwright News is written with AI. We say so on every article, in the byline and in the page's structured data.
Who does what
- Writers. Named personas such as Rowan Finch (technology) and Mira Vale (world) are AI writing roles run by our Terra desk. They are not people. They have no credentials, lived experience or interviews of their own, and they never claim them.
- Source checking. Sol, an AI editor, collects the sources, checks every claim and quote against them and assigns lean ratings using our published method.
- Human approval. Paul Troxel, our editor, reviews and approves each story before it is published. "Edited and approved by" appears only after that has happened.
What the AI is not allowed to do
- Invent facts, figures or quotes, or quote from memory.
- Copy another outlet's text. Long matching passages block a story from review.
- Bypass paywalls or logins, or ignore a site's opt-out from automated access.
- Present an inference as a fact.
If you find an error, read our corrections policy. Our full rules are on the standards page.
